Overview

Nestled in Garland, Texas, Viet Tofu is a unique Vietnamese spot that blurs the line between restaurant and specialty shop. Located at 3555 W Walnut St #203, this unassuming venue offers more than just a meal—it presents an experience steeped in authentic flavors and traditional ingredients.

Viet Tofu’s core is, as the name suggests, its tofu. The fried tofu stands out for its fresh, crispy exterior and warm, tender interior—clearly made to order. Accompanying this is their soft tofu dessert, served in a delicate ginger sugar syrup, which strikes a perfect balance between silky texture and subtle sweetness. These tofu varieties are not just dishes; they’re crafted treats that form the heart of the menu.

The menu itself goes beyond tofu. Signature offerings such as Chả Giò (Vietnamese spring rolls), Thịt Nướng (grilled pork), and refreshing summer rolls highlight the diverse Vietnamese culinary tradition. Snack items like fried sesame buns, Bánh Bao, and Red Bean Puff complement the savory options, providing a well-rounded, fast-casual line-up suitable for light meals or snacks on the go.

More than just food, Viet Tofu also serves as a gateway to Vietnamese culture through its assortment of tropical fruits like durian and Thai finger bananas, along with a selection of fresh smoothies featuring unique flavors like tamarind and pennywort. This blend of grocery and eatery attracts a diverse clientele—from longtime locals craving nostalgic tastes to curious newcomers eager to explore Vietnamese cuisine.

The space itself offers a compact but dynamic environment—a sort of marketplace vibe where you can browse refrigerated sections filled with various types of Chả and other Vietnamese staples, while orders are prepared quickly for an affordable, satisfying meal or snack. The casual ambiance favors quick lunches and takeout, making it a practical destination for busy individuals and families alike.

Though the shop isn’t large or traditionally organized, its authenticity and freshness shine through every dish. Frequent visitors praise Viet Tofu for its consistent quality and homey flavors. Whether you’re in the mood for freshly fried tofu, a smooth soft tofu dessert, or a refreshing tropical fruit smoothie, Viet Tofu delivers an approachable but authentic Vietnamese experience right in Garland.

Not a traditional restaurant, but rather a shop that sells a bunch of Vietnamese goods. These range from treats to fruits. The food tasted surprisingly good. Specifically, the tofu was hot and tasted like it was freshly fried. Based on the other reviews, looks like I may have just gotten lucky with a good experience.

We have been visiting this place since 2010. Love their homemade tofu, soft tofu dessert, and soy milk. They make fresh and homemade soft tofu dessert which is silky with sweet ginger sauce. They also sell frozen or look fresh durian, tiny bananas, and other sort of tropical fruits.

1 of the more extensive tofu fast food shops around town. Good variety of fresh smoothies like durian, tamarind, pennywort (rau ma); cha; flavored tofu cubes; che; and freshly baked baguettes. There's a refrigerated section dedicated to the different types of cha (oc, lua, hue, chay) and pork intestine. Grilled half chickens, steam corn, banh bao are also sold by the counter, along with plenty of Thai finger bananas. Fast food lunch on the cheap.

Great place for fresh (fried) tofu and soft tofu! They offer a variety of flavors of fried tofu. The soft tofu is served with ginger sugar soup. So good. The fried sesame balls are great too. They also offer a variety of dessert and drinks.

Hidden gem! This cozy, family-run tofu place may be tucked away, but the food is absolutely worth the visit. Everything tastes homemade and authentic. A must-try if you love real Vietnamese comfort food.
